Maldives Police Service (MPS) has arrested a high profile drug trafficker in a joint operation involving the Drug Enforcement Department, Drug Intelligence and Upper North Division.
Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameedh confirmed the news on Twitter, and noted that the drug trafficker was arrested with 6kg of drugs.
"In a very successful joint operation involving the DED, Drug Intelligence and Upper North Division that was commenced 7 days ago, we have seized narcotic drugs weighing a total 6.023 kgs and arrested a high profile drug trafficker today," his tweet read.
The drug trafficker was arrested today, even though the operation began seven days ago, according to the Police.
However, no further details of the arrest were given out during the time of press.
