Minister of Tourism, Ali Waheed has said that the Maldives will be aiming to make two world records this year on the occasion of the World Tourism Day.

One of the records set to make are to form a human ring in the sea around a capital city while the other one is a free diving record.

Speaking at the function titled “Jazeera Rajje, Magey Rajje” last night at Dharubaaruge, Minister Waheed said that making a human ring around a capital city with the nation’s citizens would be a brand-new record. He extended the invitation, to take part in the world record attempt, to citizens of all ages.

Ali Waheed said that the free diving record attempt will be made by inviting free diving champions and it is something that will be new in the Maldives.

Minister Waheed said that the other event related to the Tourism Day will be a journey of a “Bokkura” (smallest vessel used in the Maldives) that will begin from Vaavu Atoll.
