Male' City Council has decided to hold discussions with relevant authorities to schedule monthly vehicle free hours in the capital Male' City.

Replying to a person suggesting to observe regular weekly vehicle free hours, Male City Mayor Shifa Mohamed said that they will hold discussions with the authorities to facilitate such hours every month.

Speaking to the Media, she said that even though the City Council decides vehicle free hours, a word from the Ministry of Transport was crucial on the matter. She also added that it would be able to come to fruition only after discussions with all concerned authorities.

Mayor Shifa noted that the vehicle free hours pose difficulties to service seekers, hence such hours will be decided after great consideration.

Observing vehicle free hours during public holidays like Eid has now become a long standing tradition by different governments. Many people come out with their children for evening walks during such hours.
