Driving in Male’ City has been banned on the evening of Tuesday, 30 July, to hold an event of holding hands to celebrate the year’s International Friendship Day.

The event is set to be held on Boduthakurufaanu Magu.

An announcement made by the Transport Authority said that motor vehicles, except for those with special permits, will be banned from driving from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday. The Transport Authority said that the ban falls under Article 5-D of Act 5/2009 under the Transport Law. And so legal action will be taken against those who violate the ban.

The Transport Authority said that the vehicles allowed to drive during the ban are those used by Security Forces, Ambulances, motorcycles designed for people with special needs and public bus service.
