A large quantity of gold hidden inside the bodies of two individuals who traveled from the Maldives to Bangladesh's capital, Dhaka, has been seized.

As reported by Bangladeshi media, the country's Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) seized the gold hidden inside the bodies of these two individuals on the 18th of this month.

When the two individuals were intercepted and searched at the country's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, they were carrying 2.73 kilograms of gold concealed inside their bodies. It was also reported that its market value is BDT 4 crore or MVR 5 million.

Citing the CIID, media reported that these individuals are two nationals of that country who traveled from the Maldives to Dhaka on a US-Bangla Airlines flight. They are Mohammad Sulaiman and Jobaid Ahmed.

According to reports, the two individuals attempted to smuggle the gold by shaping it into egg-like forms using gold paste and concealing it in their rectums. The CIID stated that three blocks of gold were extracted from each person's body.
