President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has inaugurated Maldives Expo 2026, the largest exhibition ever held in the Maldives. The exhibition, which celebrates Maldivian innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship, was inaugurated this evening at Hulhumalé Central Park. The President was accompanied by First Lady Sajidha Mohamed.
Following the inauguration, the President and First Lady toured the exhibition stalls and met with participants. Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef, Cabinet Ministers and senior officials from various institutions also attended the ceremony.
Held under the theme “Future Maldives – Innovation, Creativity and Global Connections”, this year’s expo brings together 430 participants showcasing more than 4,400 products across seven exhibition districts. This represents a significant expansion from last year’s exhibition, which featured 240 participants across five districts.
Two new districts have been introduced this year. The Visitor Economy District provides opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises operating in the Maldivian tourism sector, while the International District showcases technical products from countries with which the Maldives has established, or is seeking to establish, Free Trade Agreements and Preferential Trade Agreements.
Organised by the Ministry of Economic Development, Transport and Trade in collaboration with the Business Centre Corporation (BCC), the exhibition occupies the entirety of Hulhumalé Central Park and will run until 2 November.
Building on the success and positive public response to last year’s exhibition, Maldives Expo 2026 provides a platform to promote local creativity and innovation, support businesses and expand economic opportunities. The initiative aligns with President Dr Muizzu’s vision of transforming the Maldives into a fully developed nation with a diversified economy by 2040.
The President and First Lady are scheduled to visit the exhibition on the evenings of 26 and 27 October to tour the stalls and meet with participants.
The awards ceremony for Maldives Expo 2026, recognising winners across various categories, was held on the evening of 24 October.
