President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has ratified the 3rd Amendment to the Judicature Act, effectively increasing the Supreme Court bench to seven justices.
The Amendment was passed by the Parliament at the 22nd sitting of its second session, on 17th July 2019. Following ratification, the Act has been published in the Government Gazette.
Following the ratification of this amendment, the total number of judges on the Supreme Court bench is now 7, composed of a Chief Justice and 6 additional judges.
