Speaker of the Parliament, former President Mohamed Nasheed has said that the decision yesterday by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) to advice the Chief Justice, Dr. Ahmed Abdulla Didi and the two Supreme Court Judges rejuvenates a lost trait of the Constitution.
Speaking at the start of the day’s parliament session, Speaker Nasheed said that the Supreme Court’s influence on the lower courts stating that it is in their authority is against the Constitution.
And every citizen is given three opportunities to clear their name in the form of the lower courts, High Court and the Supreme Court.
The former President said that while the said opportunity exits, taking the cases from the lower courts directly to the Supreme Court is in violation with the Constitution.
