Maziya Sports and Recreation’s Ahmed Aiham (Fatho) and former national team captain Fathimath Shaliya have been named the best male and female footballers at the FAM Awards.

Aiham played a key role in Maziya’s league-winning campaign last season and is also an important member of the national team.

Shaliya, who plays for Odi Sports Club, was named the best female player following the FAM Women’s Football League season.

Other awards included Maziya’s Mohamed Ilan Imran being named the best young player, while Husain Niyaz won the award for the best goal of the season.

Maziya was named the best club, while Biss Buru Sports Club won the best regional club award.

Gomez da Silva of New Radiant Sports Club was named the best foreign player, while Hamza Mohamed (Hampu) of Victory Sports Club finished third among the best players. New Radiant’s Mohamed Faisal won the best goalkeeper award, while Maziya coach Luizma Hernandez was named the best coach.

The awards ceremony also recognised the national futsal team for winning the SAFF Futsal Championship and teams that won the South Asian Super Cup.
