Physical works to develop the area including IGMH under the Boduthakurufaanu Magu development project have commenced.
MTCC stated yesterday that work on Phase 3 of the Boduthakurufaanu Magu construction began yesterday. Accordingly, the road section from Thaajuddeen School to the Tsunami Monument has been closed off, and work to develop the area is underway.
MTCC stated that stone/curb removal work is ongoing in that area, and pavement development work will begin this week.
Under the project to widen and pave Boduthakurufaanu Magu, work to lay asphalt and develop the remaining undeveloped section of the road—from the MPL area up to the Tsunami Monument—began today, with plans now in place to complete the work in that area by the end of November.
The ring road encircling Male' is being completed and modernized in phases.
Under this project, whose physical works began on June 23, two phases have been successfully completed so far and have now been opened to public traffic.
Accordingly, under the first segment of the road widening project, the seawall was pushed outward from near the fish market southward to about the middle of Republic Square, widening the road to four lanes and paving it with asphalt. Furthermore, the stretch from Chandhanee Magu to Falhandhoshu Hingun has also been developed. The four-lane expansion and development from Henveiru Ferry Terminal to the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) was opened in July.
The government contracted MTCC to modernize Boduthakurufaanu Magu for MVR 144.5 million, with the work to be completed within 455 days.
