Bank of Maldives (BML) has withdrawn a civil case against former State Minister at the Ministry of Housing Akram Kamaludeen over unpaid credit card debt.

The case concerned MVR 112,300 in credit card transactions made using Visa Platinum and American Express Platinum cards issued by BML.

BML had sought to recover the outstanding amount, including interest and penalties. However, the bank later asked the Civil Court to withdraw the case.

The court subsequently dismissed the case after finding no legal grounds to prevent the withdrawal.
