President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has called for greater use of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies to further develop the Maldives’ tourism industry.

In a post on X marking World Tourism Day, President Dr Muizzu thanked Maldivian communities and tourism industry stakeholders for their contributions to establishing the Maldives as a leading global destination.

He said tourism remains a key driver of national development and international connectivity, and stressed the need to adapt, innovate and lead as digital technologies and AI transform the industry.

The President said the Maldives is prepared to invest in innovation, skills and digital solutions to strengthen the sector and improve the visitor experience.

He also stressed that technological advancement should not come at the expense of the Maldives’ natural beauty, unique identity and renowned hospitality.
