The Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC) has confirmed that preparations for the Maldives’ participation in the Asian Games are complete.

MOC Secretary General Thamooh Ahmed Saeed said the 81-member Maldivian contingent will compete in seven sports: athletics, badminton, beach volleyball, table tennis, swimming, shooting and sailing.

The contingent includes 42 athletes and 18 officials, along with medical, media and MOC and Sports Ministry representatives.

Thamooh said all accommodation and other arrangements for the Maldivian contingent have been completed, despite the increase in the total number of participants at the Games.

The Asian Games will be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, with more than 17,000 participants expected. The Games will also feature additional sports.
