Health Protection Agency (HPA) has stressed that the Ebola outbreak from the Democratic Republic of Congo has low chances of reaching the Maldives.

HPA noted this in a statement they released, after the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared the Ebola outbreak a public health emergency of international concern.

Citing a risk assessment to determine the spread of Ebola as far as Maldives, the Health Protection Agency said that we were not in immediate danger. However, due to the global health alert issued by the WHO, the agency has activated the response plan for such an emergency. They added that they are currently working with relevant authorities to put in preventive measures.

HPA highlighted that they were closely monitoring the situation related to the outbreak of Ebola.
