Police have arrested a 41-year-old man in connection with the alleged sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl.

Police said a case was reported on 31 August involving allegations that the man, who was in a position of trust, sexually abused the girl and subjected her to physical and psychological abuse.

The suspect, a Maldivian man aged 41, was arrested today in connection with the case.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
