The Ooredoo Masrace will begin in K. Maafushi this Friday, Ooredoo has announced.

The event is being organised by Ooredoo in collaboration with the Ministry of Fisheries, Agriculture and Ocean Resources.

A total of 16 teams will compete for MVR 43,000 in prize money. The champion team will receive MVR 25,000, while the second- and third-placed teams will receive MVR 10,000 and MVR 5,000, respectively.

Prizes of MVR 1,000 will also be awarded to the best male and female fishers and the team that catches the heaviest fish.

Ooredoo said the event aims to celebrate Maldivian fishing skills and preserve the long-standing connection between Maldivians and fishing.
