Visit Maldives Managing Director Ibrahim Shiuree has resigned from his position, effective today.

Shiuree was appointed Managing Director of Visit Maldives, formerly the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), on 13 June 2024.

The reason for his resignation has not been disclosed. Before stepping down, Shiuree met with the organisation’s staff today.

A former national table tennis player, Shiury previously served as Vice President of the Table Tennis Association of the Maldives. He has also worked on the World Bank-funded MIERI project in the Maldives and served on the boards of the Hajj Corporation and Masee.

Shiuree holds a degree in Marketing and a master’s degree in Public Relations.

He was appointed to head MMPRC after former Managing Director Fathimath Thaufeeq was removed from the position on 22 May 2024.
