The Maldives recorded MVR 27.1 billion in state revenue and grants, while expenditure reached MVR 28.1 billion, according to the latest Weekly Fiscal Developments report from the Ministry of Finance and Public Enterprises.
Revenue increased by 10.4 per cent compared with the same period last year, while expenditure rose by 19.3 per cent.
Tax revenue grew by 11.9 per cent to MVR 21.1 billion, with Tourism Goods and Services Tax (TGST) collections reaching MVR 7.2 billion, an increase of 6.6 per cent.
Business Profit Tax revenue increased from MVR 4.5 billion to MVR 5.4 billion, while import duty collections rose to MVR 2.1 billion.
Non-tax revenue increased by 1.9 per cent to MVR 5.6 billion, while grant aid rose by 90.1 per cent to MVR 460.4 million.
Meanwhile, recurrent expenditure increased from MVR 20.3 billion to MVR 24.5 billion. Spending on subsidies rose by 78.4 per cent to MVR 3.5 billion, while total spending on aid and subsidies reached MVR 8.1 billion.
Spending on salaries, allowances and pensions rose by 11.2 per cent to MVR 9.4 billion, while debt repayment and interest costs increased by 9.1 per cent to MVR 3.3 billion.
PSIP spending stood at MVR 3.6 billion, down 30 per cent from MVR 5.2 billion during the same period in 2025.
The state's primary balance stood at a surplus of MVR 2.4 billion, while the overall budget recorded a deficit of MVR 950.3 million.
