MTCC has filed a police case over the unauthorised disclosure of information from the Malé Taxi Line mobile application.

The company said an employee altered information in the application's backend database, took screenshots and leaked the information without authorisation, allegedly for personal and political purposes. The employee has since been dismissed.

MTCC's ICT network security team detected the changes and immediately alerted the relevant operations team. The system was shut down and a security lockdown was imposed.

The company said the issue was resolved last night and assured customers that they would not face difficulties accessing the Malé Taxi Line service.

MTCC clarified that the incident was not caused by an external attack on the application's firewall.
