Maldivian has re-invited Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the development of the passenger terminal at B. Dharavandhoo Airport under a contractor-financing model (re-bid).

Island Aviation initially issued an announcement seeking a developer for the terminal in May this year.

In an announcement today, Maldivian stated that parties interested in developing the Dharavandhoo Airport terminal on a contractor-finance basis can submit applications before 11:59 PM next Tuesday.

The deadline for submitting proposals is September 10. The project must be completed within 18 months from the date of commencement.

The company stated that preference in contractor selection will be given to parties with prior experience executing similar projects or projects valued above MVR 50 million.

During a visit to Dharavandhoo on August 13, 2025, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu met with local residents and assured that Dharavandhoo Airport would be officially handed over to Island Aviation to develop it to the standard requested by the public.

It has been 14 years since airport operations began in Dharavandhoo; the airport was originally built and opened on October 17, 2012, by Coastline Hotels and Resorts under a public-private partnership.

Dharavandhoo Airport was previously operated by Island Aviation under an operations and management agreement established between Coastline and Island Aviation.
