Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) has signed an agreement with the national airline, Maldivian, naming it the official local airline partner for the World Travel Awards (WTA) Asia, Oceania & Indian Ocean 2026.

The agreement was signed by VMC Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Ibrahim Shiuree and Maldivian Deputy Managing Director Ali Saleem.

Under the partnership, Maldivian will provide operational support and airline services to facilitate the successful hosting of the event, in addition to supporting staff transportation.

VMC said hosting the World Travel Awards in the Maldives presents a valuable opportunity to showcase the country's tourism products and destination to leading international travel industry stakeholders.

The corporation noted that partnering with the national airline reflects the importance of collaboration among local tourism stakeholders and will strengthen efforts to promote the Maldives as a world-class destination.

The World Travel Awards recognises excellence across the global travel, tourism and hospitality industries. Visit Maldives said hosting the Asia, Oceania & Indian Ocean 2026 ceremony will enhance the Maldives' international profile, strengthen industry partnerships and reinforce its position as one of the world's leading tourist destinations.
