Registration for the Dhiraagu Malé Open 2026, the Maldives' largest open water swimming competition, has been extended until Sunday.

Organised by Swim Maldives, the event aims to promote open water swimming, encourage greater participation in the sport and raise awareness of marine conservation.

The competition will be held on 21 and 22 August at Rasfannu.

Swimmers can register for the 1km, 500m and 250m races, as well as the newly introduced 500m team relay category.

More than 350 swimmers, aged between six and over 70, took part in last year's event.
