The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has said it expects to complete the installation, testing and commissioning of three pump stations on Boduthakurufaanu Magu by August.

The company said it will continue pumping floodwater from the road during heavy rainfall until the pump stations become operational.

Although the second phase of Boduthakurufaanu Magu has been completed and opened to traffic, recent monsoon rains have caused flooding in some areas.

MTCC said the pump stations will provide a permanent solution to the flooding issue and that interim measures will remain in place until the project is fully completed.
