President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has said the modernisation of Boduthakurufaanu Magu will significantly improve convenience for sea transport operators while helping to ease traffic congestion across Malé.
Speaking in the fourth episode of the President’s Office podcast The Pulse, the President said the upgraded road has been designed to provide more space for launches to berth. He noted that new quay walls on three sides of the reclaimed section would increase docking capacity, making loading, unloading and other operations more efficient.
The President said the project would also benefit the wider road network in Malé. Once the ring road is completed, traffic on inner roads is expected to ease considerably.
He added that reclaimed areas along the seafront would provide space for around 500 vehicle parking spaces, reducing roadside parking and making travel more convenient.
The President also said the completed project would include shaded waiting areas and benches for passengers, further improving public convenience along Boduthakurufaanu Magu.
