The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Urban Development has awarded the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) the contract to repair Ameenee Magu and two other major roads in Malé.

The project, awarded on June 15, also includes repairs to Izzuddin Magu and Boduthakurufaanu Magu.

The ministry said the roads require repairs due to damage to the asphalt surface, particularly along the western side of Ameenee Magu, which has made travel difficult.

MTCC is now preparing to begin the work as soon as possible. In addition to resurfacing the roads, the project will redesign pavements at bus stop areas to improve their durability and withstand heavy use.

Ameenee Magu was redeveloped by the previous administration at a cost of MVR 84.4 million. The 1.79-kilometre road project was completed in 2024.
