Buru Sports Club and head coach Mohamed Nizam, widely known as Nizambe, have mutually agreed to part ways following the expiry of his contract.

Nizam joined the club in 2023 and became the first coach to lead Buru in the Maldives' First Division. During his two seasons in charge, Buru finished fifth in the league in his first campaign and fourth in the most recent season. The club also reached the semi-finals of the President's Cup and secured its first-ever FA Cup third-place finish.

Speaking after his departure, Nizam described coaching Buru as an honour and said every achievement with the club was an important milestone in his coaching career. He thanked the players, management, technical staff and supporters for their support and said he is ready for the next chapter of his career while continuing to contribute to football.

Buru Sports Club thanked Nizam for his service and wished him success in the future.

Nizam is one of the Maldives' most experienced football coaches, having previously won league and regional honours with TC Sports Club, coached Bangladesh's Saif Sporting Club, and led Maldives' youth and women's national teams.
