Maldivian hydro sports and flyboarding athletes Ibrahim Hussain (Ibbadey) and Ibrahim Naif have departed for Moscow, Russia, to compete in the 5th International Festival of Extreme Water-Motosports (Hydrofest 2026).

The Maldives Hydro Sports Association (MHSA) said the Maldivian team will be led by Ibbade, who introduced flyboarding and hydroflight to the Maldives and has played a key role in developing the sport.

MHSA said the organisers extended a special invitation to the Maldives to participate in the event.

Ibbadey, a leading professional flyboard athlete, will also compete at the festival. His travel costs to Moscow are being covered by the Russian Sports Federation, while MHSA will cover his other expenses.

Speaking before departure, Ibbadey said it was an honour to represent the Maldives at Hydrofest. He said participating in the international event reflects the growth of hydro sports in the Maldives and expressed hope that the competition would inspire more people to take up the sport.
