Security Committee to investigate police negligence in Rilwan investigation held behind closed doors

The meeting of the National Security Committee to investigate if there was any negligence on behalf of the Maldives Police Service in the disappearance of the journalist, Ahmed Rilwan, has been held behind closed doors.

The meeting is part of the Committee efforts to see if any state institute was negligence in the case.

A number of parliament committees have previously accused the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) was negligent in the case.

While the Rilwan disappearance and others along with murders are being investigated by the Commission on Disappearances and Deaths, a report on the work of HRCM in those cases have been presented to the parliament on Sunday.

HRCM said that they have been present at the hearings regarding the case at the Criminal Court.

They said that a things that were noted in the police investigation report were discussed with the police and the Prosecutor General as well.
