Judicial Service Commission has opened applications to become part of their investigative committee.

A statement issued by JSC noted that priority will be given to former judges, lawyers and people who have worked in an investigative office in one form or the other.

For a lawyer, it is prohibited to practice law in a court which involves a judge under investigation, for the duration of the investigation.

Members will be given an allowance of MVR 500 for one and a half hour per sitting. Maximum that each member will receive is capped at MVR 1,000.

Those who apply must be a Muslim, Maldivian, 35 years of age, free from prosecution of any criminal charges, free from any corruption or bribery allegations in addition to not being from a political position or party in any capacity.

Deadline for applications are 18 July, latest by 12:30pm.
