The Maldives has welcomed 923,984 tourists so far this year, according to statistics released by the Tourism Ministry. The figure marks a 4.0 percent decrease compared to the same period last year.

On average, 6,286 tourists visited the country each day this year, compared to 6,546 daily arrivals recorded last year.

Most tourists entered the country through Velana International Airport (VIA), which recorded the highest number of arrivals.

China remained the Maldives’ top tourism market, with 141,339 visitors arriving from the country. Russia and the United Kingdom followed as the second and third largest source markets.

The Maldives currently has 179 resorts, 16 hotels, 918 guesthouses, and 171 safari vessels operating across the country.
