A man has been released to house for treatment after being injured during arrest by officers of the Lhaviyani Hinnavaru Police Station.

Maldives Police Service said that the man was taken into custody under a court order and brought to the Police Station to be taken to the Drug Court on 7 July 2019 as per the court order. The 31-year-old man was injured when he resisted the officers who were trying to handcuff him.

Police said that the man was visited by the police doctor after complaints of pain in his arm and the doctor concluded that he has a fracture. And now, he has been released to house arrest after treatment.

The case is now being investigated by the Use of Force Review Committee and any required action after the investigation will be taken according to the police.
