Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has decided to suspend Chief Magistrate of Kaafu Judicial Division, Mohamed Ragib and submit his case to the Police.

Speaking to the press on Monday, Director of JSC, Hassan Zaheen said that the commission had decided to suspend him since his presence in the office during the investigation of his disciplinary case might influence the investigation.

Zaheen said that during the investigation, criminal offences have come up and that they have decided to submit the case to the Police for further investigation since they do not have the authority to probe criminal offences. He further added that Ragib's statement has been collected in addition to witness statements in the said disciplinary case.

He also highlighted that while JSC probes disciplinary cases against judges and magistrates, they have taken note of issues which involve sexual harassment towards court employees.
