Maldives National Association of Construction Industry (MNACI) has called to inspect the old buildings in Male’ City and the atolls and take quick action.

A statement issued by the MNACI said that buildings in Male’, Hulhumale’ Vilimale’ and the atolls needs to go under a thorough inspection of their condition and It is important to take action for those that are unsafe. The organization has previously called for an inspection to make sure stairwells, balconies and ventilations are up to code.

MNACI said that following yesterday’s incident at H. Ruhdhoshuge, inspections of such old buildings need to be mandatory to avoid further incidents and the organization would be providing full support on it.

The organization also called to action to assure safety beforehand instead of responding to an incident.
