Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, the MP for the North Galolhu constituency, Eva Abdulla has said that personal information of the missing 14-year-old boy should not be released to the public.
Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services have been releasing information and updates on the boy since he went missing on 18 June up to a press conference yesterday. The Ministry has said that a case involving Shaim was initially reported nine years ago and since that the Ministry has responded to numerous cases before taking him to the orphanage after finding him at a crime scene after a police operation.
MP Eva said that looking at the history of the boy, there are numerous reasons that the state should be protect him and deserved a life free of scrutiny. She said that no matter the state the 14-year-old boy is in right now, it was not a decision he made on purpose.
While the search for the boy continues, Maldives Police Service has appealed to the public for anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Shaim to report to the Family and Child Protection Department of the Police by calling the number 300-0600.
