Parliament Committee on Independent Institutions have decided to remove President of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Hassan Luthufee.

ACC previously revealed to the Committee that their President, Hassan Luthufee has not been to the commission since February 6, and that no communications have been established since April 14. During the meeting of Parliament Committee on Independent Institutions, Vice President Muavviz Rasheed revealed that Luthufee had been taking leaves since February, however have not informed anything else to the committee since April 14.

During a meeting of the Committee held on Tuesday, it was decided unanimously to remove Luthufee from the Commission. While debating on the topic, points were raised as to how he has failed to carry out his responsibilities as the President of the Commission, including overseeing commission meetings and day to day operations.

It was noted that the removal of a member of the Commission is permitted if a member fails to comply with their responsibilities or if they commit an action that a member is banned from doing so. Hence, a motion has been submitted to the Parliament for the removal of Luthufee from the Commission.
