Parliament Committee on Independent Institutions have passed to remove former Vice President of Broadcasting Commission, Ibrahim Sofwan from the commission.
A motion to remove Sofwan was submitted after members of the commission were presented in front of the committee on June 19. During the meeting, it was revealed that Sofwan had been absent from work for a prolonged time, and had been cashing in his salary without doing any actual work of the commission.
During the meeting of the committee on Tuesday, the attendance records of Sofwan was read out loud and discussions were held on it later on.
According to the records, Sofwan had not been present for a single meeting of the commission since September 28, 2018. Their law states that being absent for three meetings consecutively, without a proper excuse is grounds for removal from the commission.
The committee unanimously passed to submit a motion to the Parliament floor to remove Sofwan as a member from Broadcom.
