Forty-one hectares of land have been reclaimed from Site A of the Rasmale’ reclamation project, accounting for 30 percent of the total 137.5 hectares planned for the site.

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), one of the companies involved in the project, said reclamation work on Site A began on the first of this month. The work is currently being carried out using one of the world’s largest dredgers, with a capacity of 46,000 cubic metres

The Rasmale’ reclamation project involves the development of a total of 1,009 hectares of land and is being undertaken by three companies. The overall project was launched on 18 December 2019.
