A case has been presented at the parliament to dismiss Ibrahim Rasheed at the Gaafu Dhaalu Magistrate Court.

Media Official of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), Hassan Zaheen told One Online that the decision to dismiss Ibrahim Rasheed from his position as the Magister was made after looking into a disciplinary case.

This is the first time the JSC has filed for dismissal after a disciplinary investigation.

It is the constitutional responsibility of the JSC to investigate disciplinary cases against Judges and ensure that they meet the job requirements. However, the parliament reserves the authority to remove judges from the courts.

The parliament can remove a judge with the vote of two-third of the parliament.
