The Maldivian national futsal teams are set to begin their campaigns at the SAFF Futsal Championship in January next year. The men's team will play its first match against Pakistan, while the women's team will open against India.

Both the men's and women's tournaments will take place in Bangkok, Thailand, at Nontabury Stadium. The women's competition will run from 13–25 January, followed by the men's competition from 14–26 January.

This year’s SAFF futsal events will be held in a league format. Teams participating in both the men's and women's championships include Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.

This marks the first SAFF futsal tournament organised under the new initiative. SAFF says the aim is to expand and strengthen futsal development and facilities across the region.
