The Parliament is set to question Homeland Security and Technology Minister Ali Ihusaan regarding the delay in appointing a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the National Drug Agency (NDA).
The issue was raised by North Galolhu MP Mohamed Ibrahim, who noted that the agency has been operating under an acting CEO. Concerns have been expressed that the acting CEO does not meet the qualifications required by law, as the position must be held by a person with a degree obtained in the Maldives.
Members also highlighted that the acting CEO is not a lawyer and lacks relevant knowledge and experience. They pressed for clarity on why a permanent CEO has not yet been appointed in line with NDA regulations.
