Kendhoo MP Ali Hussain said that the judiciary could not be properly reformed without revising the constitution and bringing necessary changes to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
Speaking during the parliament sitting today that addressed the Supreme Court's interferences in JSC's work, MP Ali Hussain noted that the one thing that has evaded Maldivians have been a just judicial system. He stressed that during the recent Presidential and Parliamentary Elections, the one thing that everyone had hopes were for judicial reform.
He asserted that the Maldives' judiciary could not be reformed without bringing necessary changes to the composition of JSC in the constitution and without revising the powers that are currently granted to the courts.
However, he noted the need to accept the concerns of the citizens and the need to bring about even a temporary solution to the matter at hand at the soonest possible.
