European Union (EU) has pledged to grant USD 5 million to the Maldives for diesel reduction.

Tung-Lai Margue, Ambassador of the EU to the Maldives revealed during the Maldives Partnership Forum 2019 that "EU has been a strong partner on climate change and environment" and that the EU is ready to grant USD 5 million to the Maldives for diesel reduction.

He also announced that the European Investment Bank (EIB) would soon be able to disburse a USD 45 million loan in the area of solar energy & energy efficiency.
