President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met Ilham Heydar oglu Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan, at the Crowne Plaza Tianjin Meijiangnan on Monday.

The meeting commenced with both leaders acknowledging the longstanding and close cooperation between the Maldives and Azerbaijan. President Dr Muizzu expressed his sincere appreciation to President Aliyev for the warm hospitality extended to him during his official visit to attend the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29).

The two leaders held constructive discussions aimed at identifying new avenues for bilateral collaboration. Key areas of focus included strengthening people-to-people ties, enhancing economic cooperation, and promoting growth in trade and investment between the two nations.

Concluding the meeting, President Dr Muizzu and President Aliyev reaffirmed their commitment to further advancing Maldives–Azerbaijan relations across shared priorities.
