A man has been arrested for the alleged sexual abuse of an eight year old girl.

Maldives Police Service revealed that a 58 year old man has been apprehended from a central atoll regarding a child sexual abuse case. The man was arrested under a court order on Thursday.

The case was initially reported to the Police on May 25.

There has been a spike in cases related to child abuse in recent times.
