A petition has been submitted to the People's Majlis regarding the prolonged and unresolved housing issue related to the K-Park Residences project.

The petition, signed by 50 people who purchased flats from K-Park Residences, was sent to the Speaker of the Parliament by Mohamed Ibrahim (Kudoo), the Member of Parliament for Galolhu North constituency.

In the letter sent by a private individual who bought a flat from K-Park, it was requested to find a quick solution to the issue as it has negatively impacted the lives of many people.

According to the letter, the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has refused to take responsibility for the issue from the beginning and has not taken any steps to resolve it. Although HDC promised to conduct internal reviews, no progress has been made even after more than two years.

"As a result, this prolonged issue has directly and indirectly affected thousands of families. These families are now facing serious financial, legal, and psychological difficulties," the letter stated.

The letter also mentioned that it's unacceptable for a well-resourced state institution like HDC to not provide basic justice or relief to those affected by this issue.

Other points highlighted in the letter include:

  • HDC seems to be providing robust assistance to much smaller projects
  • The K-Park issues stem from HDC's own mistakes, including land allocation, lack of regulatory oversight, and irresponsible repeated deadline extensions

The letter requests the parliament members to investigate HDC's delay in resolving this issue, hold responsible parties accountable, protect the rights of affected families, and facilitate a fair and quick solution.
