Testing of the check-in system at Velana International Airport (VIA)'s new terminal has commenced.
Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), which operates VIA, stated today that the check-in system testing is being conducted as part of the Operational Readiness, Airport Transfer (ORAT) process. This process aims to test the terminal's services, equipment, and machinery, as well as to train its key human resources and prepare the entire terminal for operations, both before and after its opening.
MACL stated that these tests were carried out using MACL employees. During these tests, the functionality of Maldivian's systems and boarding pass printing systems was verified, and aspects related to the new terminal's information technology were also tested, MACL added.
MACL stated that its CEO and Managing Director, Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, observed today's tests and actively participated in the process.
Accordingly, MACL also stated that Shareef was the first person to check-in as a passenger during today's tests.
In addition to Shareef, Deputy Managing Director Mohamed Lam'aan, Mujuthaba Latheef, and other senior officials of the company participated in the test, MACL confirmed.
