The national airline, Maldivian, has decided to start flights to Shenzhen, China.

Maldivian said that the first flight to Shenzhen, China will be tonight. They also stated that the return flight from the city to the Maldives will be on Wednesday.

Maldivian said that they are starting flights to Shenzhen due to the high demand from that area to the Maldives during this period, and these are seasonal flights. They will operate one flight per week until the 21st of next month.

For the Shenzhen flights, Maldivian will use an A-320 aircraft, which is the second-largest aircraft in the airline's fleet.

As Maldivian begins flights to Shenzhen City tonight, the airline has been operating scheduled flights to Chengdu, Beijing, and Shanghai in China using their first widebody aircraft, the A-330.
