The Maldives women's national football team faced their second defeat in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 qualifiers, falling 3-0 to Guam in a Group C match held on Sunday.
This loss follows a heavy 7-0 defeat against host nation Vietnam in their opening match. Guam, who drew their first match against the United Arab Emirates, secured a comfortable win over the Maldives with all three goals scored by forward Rebecca Bartosh. Her first goal came just before half-time, with two more added in the second half.
Despite a valiant effort by Maldives goalkeeper Aiminath Liza, the team struggled to contain Guam’s relentless attacks throughout the match.
Group C consists of Vietnam, UAE, Guam, and the Maldives. The Maldivian team will face the UAE in their next fixture on Saturday as they continue their campaign in the qualifiers.
