Parliament passes committees, appoints members

The 17 committees for 19th Session of Parliament has been passed, and members appointed to respective committees.

During the Parliament Sitting held on Tuesday, committees were passed and members were appointed to the committees.

The report to compile committees including MPs from political parties and independent MPs by the temporary committee to revise parliament sitting order was passed by the votes of 80 members who were present during the sitting.

MDP controls the majority of all 17 committees that were passed today.

A total of 176 seats will be a part of 16 committees. Out of this, MDP will be receiving 132 seats which amounts up to 75% of the committees. While PPM and JP receives 6% of the committees, each party receives 10 seats.

PNC receives six seats, MDA four and Independent MPs receive a total of 14 seats.
