The average duration of stay for tourists in the Maldives has decreased by 12 percent.
According to statistics from the central bank, MMA, from January to the end of May this year, tourists spent an average of 6.8 days in the Maldives. However, during the same period last year, tourists averaged 7.7 days in the country.
The statistics also show that bed nights have decreased compared to last year.
According to Tourism Ministry statistics, 1.1 million tourists have visited the Maldives so far this year. The highest number of tourists came from China, with 141,162 visitors.
Currently, 64,149 beds are being used for tourism purposes in the Maldives.
The statistics show that the majority of tourists visited resorts, accounting for 72.4 percent of the market. Guesthouses received the second-highest number of tourists, while hotels ranked third in tourist arrivals.
